"Make the Audience Feel Like the Main Character."
It seems that the term storytelling is getting more and more popular. On every corner of the street, someone is shouting ‘STORYTELLING IS ESSENTIAL’. Ok, maybe not to that extent, but you get the point.
The message is clear: storytelling is important. However, as paradoxical as it may seem, that message is kind of vague. But fear not! Mr.Prezident has got your back. This week we present you with 5 tips on how to step up your storytelling game.
#1 Keep it Simple
Don’t make your story too intricate, avoid too many side stories and jargon. You want your audience to stay with you. Don’t confuse them.
#2 Add the Human Element
People like to listen to stories in which they can recognize themselves and empathize with the narrator. Make the audience feel like the main character in your narrative. The emotional aspects keeps people invested in your story and helps remember your message way better.
#3 Don’t Be a Fake!
It may seem tempting to add some fiction to your story, but people can spot a fake from miles away. By just being your sincere and authentic self, your story will come across as honest and people will respect you for it.
#4 Are You Interested in Your Story?
Be honest: is what you’re saying really that interesting? Take a good, critical look at your story to see if it’s as powerful as you thought it was. If not, try another angle!
